City Building through Innovation and Collaboration Conference

Over the past two years, WSP and its local partners have developed a platform for matchmaking businesses between Malmö, Sweden and Halifax. The reason for the choice of the two cities is the existing similarities and synergies between the two markets. Designed to create business growth potential for cleantech and oceantech companies in Nova Scotia, Canada, and Malmö, Sweden, the platform offers effective ways of initiating dialogue between existing companies and identifying potential partnerships or growth opportunities.
On September 19 and 20, a delegation consisting of City of Malmö, Invest in Skåne, Cleantech Scandinavia, and a number of Swedish companies will visit Halifax to assess investment and market potentials. To capitalize on their visit, we have prepared a series of public and private events to learn from Sweden and to showcase our strengths.
City of Malmö has gone from an economically depressed city, losing 30,000 people in a decade, to the City of Innovation and one of the greenest cities in the world that attracts over 10,000 people a year, majority of whom are a young and highly educated workforce. A long time politician who has been part of delivering this transformation is Stefan Lindhe. He has been a driving force in the Malmö Live project. He will be accompanying the Swedish delegation to Halifax.
